Slayers

Kick-ass vampire slayer, Elliot Jones (Thomas Jane), made it his life’s mission to take revenge on the bloodsuckers who murdered his teenage daughter. After years of tracking them, he has finally reached their secret and hidden base. But to get to them he will need to use a motley crew of social media superstars. Enter ‘The Stream Team’: party-girl Jules (Abigail Breslin), gen-z pro-gamer Flynn (Kara Hayward) and their team of trend-makers and breakers! With a hundred million-plus combined followers, they have attracted the attention of reclusive billionaire Beverly Rektor (Malin Akerman), who invites them to party at her multimillion-dollar vacation compound. They soon discover these rich people are none other than the ancient vampires that Elliot Jones is chasing. When the team is being held captive in a house of horrors to serve the vampires plan to take over the world, Elliott is their only hope of survival. As he links up with Flynn, a slayer in her own right, will he take down the vampire hoard and save The Stream Team?

Director's Statement

SLAYERS is a brand-new take on one of the oldest horror sub genres around, VAMPIRES!
4
In our world Vampires are not just centuries old monsters of the night, shape shifting and living
out their blood lust fantasies, they are some of the most influencers world leaders throughout
the ages.
Our vampires don’t just feed on people, they feed on cultures, media, business, your very way
of life.
They are masters of the universe, constantly using their seductive influence to change
narratives, take down kingdoms and swing elections.
This is the vision we will unleash. A vision that speaks to the media obsessed wasteland of
2022. The dying breath of late-stage capitalism. A world where even something as Gothically
romantic as vampires have been reduced to corporate raiders and media moguls.
OH… did I mention SLAYERS is a comedy?
Aside from blood, guts, bad intentions and social satire, SLAYERS is filled with enough gross
out jokes and campy one-liners to make Sam Raimi proud.
Personally, I wanted to take all of themes of above, the cynicism of post-COVID milieu and my
own experiences living in the eye of the social media bubble to create a one-of-a-kind horror
comedy, that doesn’t just sound unique, but look like something no one has seen before.
The story is about influencers, a failed tv host and a vampire illuminati ring lead by a media
mogul, so what better way to tell the narrative than in fast forward, with mixed media, eye
popping graphics, and ADD editing, so that I can literally replicate the feeling we all get
everyday visually downloading our global culture on our handheld devices.
We no longer read the paper, we read our Twitter feeds. We don’t interact with friends in
person, we interact on Snap and Instagram. We don’t even consume content on one screen
anymore, it’s all dual screens all the time. So that’s exactly the way I wanted SLAYERS to feel.
That same addictive fix of data loading only at 24 frames per second.
SLAYERS is a genre mashup, a mixed media mashup, even a music mashup, because that’s
what it feels like to have four apps open, switching from app to app waiting for a FEED STOP to
grab our attention for more than 10 seconds… and finally scrolling to the next piece of curated
information.
My hope is that audiences not only enjoy the story of our fateful leads, the hilariously raw fauxnoir narration of our badass slayer, Elliot Jones, but the way the visuals of SLAYERS were
conceived as a new way of storytelling; with a cautious wink towards the digital innovations of
YouTube creators and TikTokers, juxtaposed against the cinematic lens of John Ford vistas of
the west and classic film noir.
