Phillipa Soo is best known for originating the role of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in Broadway’s critically acclaimed show “Hamilton”. The role garnered her the Lucille Lortel Award in 2015 for Lead Actress in a Musical during the show’s Off-Broadway, sold-out run at The Public Theater as well as earning her a 2016 Tony Award nomination. Phillipa earned a 2021 Emmy Nomination in the category of “Supporting Actress, Limited Series, Movie or Anthology” for the film version of HAMILTON, that premiered in July 2020 and is available to stream now on Disney+. Soo can currently be seen Hulu’s DOPESICK opposite Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard and Kaitlyn Dever. She will next be seen in AppleTV+’s ‘SHINING GIRLS’, a new series based on the 2013 best-selling novel by Lauren Beukes. Soo will portray the intelligent and sure-footed Jin-Sook who works in the research department at the Adler planetarium. She will star opposite Elisabeth Moss, Wagner Moura, and Jamie Bell. Phillipa recently wrapped production on the film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller ONE TRUE LOVES opposite Simu Liu and Luke Bracey. The film will be directed by Andy Fickman (SHE’S THE MAN, PARENTAL GUIDANCE), and follows the moving love story of a woman unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thoughtdead and the fiancé who has finally brought her back to life. Next up, Soo will star in the world premiere of Shaina Taub’s musical, SUFFRAGIST—now titled SUFFS—at The Public Theater, directed by Leigh Silverman. It will open in April of 2022. In 2020, Soo voiced a lead role in Netflix’s animated feature film OVER THE MOON that was directed by Glen Keane and written by Audrey Wells, starred in the Selena Gomez-produced THE BROKEN HEARTS GALLERY opposite Geraldine Viswanathan that was released by Sony Pictures, and in Disney+’s animated feature film THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN. She made her feature film debut in Fabien Constant’s HERE AND NOW opposite Sarah Jessica Parker.On the small screen, she was previously a series regular on the CBS show ‘THE CODE’ and appeared on NBC’s ‘SMASH’.In 2018, she co-starred on Broadway opposite Uma Thurman in the play “The Parisian Woman,” and in 2017, Soo played the title role in the Broadway musical “Amelie,” based on the Academy Award-winning 2001 French film, Amelie. Simu Liu made his debut as the title character this summer in SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring alongside Awkwafina, Tony Leung, and Michelle Yeoh. Liu made history as the star of the first Asian-fronted movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has been nominated in the categories of Male Movie Star and Action Movie Star of 2021. For five seasons, Liu starred in the CBC/Netflix comedy series ‘KIM’S CONVENIENCE’, which won the ACTRA Awards for Outstanding Ensemble in 2017 and was also nominated for the same award in 2018. Kim’s Convenience also went on to win the award for Best Comedy Series at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards. The first Canadian television series with an all-Asian lead cast, the series chronicles the day-to-day micro-dramas encountered by a Korean immigrant family that runs a corner grocery store. Liu’s first major role was on the critically acclaimed OMNI crime drama ‘BLOOD AND WATER’, the first trilingual series (English, Mandarin, and Cantonese) produced by Canadian television, for which he received nominations at the ACTRA Awards and Canadian Screen Awards. Asidefrom his performance on screen, Liu participated in the writing room for the series by contributing in the show’s second season as a story editor and as the main writer for one episode. He most recently completed production on the adventure feature ARTHUR THE KING, directed by Simon Cellan Jones and starring opposite Mark Wahlberg. The film from Entertainment One and Tucker Tooley Entertainment is based on the 2017 book: Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home by Mikael Lindnord. Inspired by a true story the film follows Lindnord, captain of a Swedish adventure racing team who met and befriended a wounded stray dog during a 400-mile race through the Ecuadoran jungle where they crossed rivers and battled illness and injury through some of the world’s toughest terrain. Liu is currently shooting ONE TRUE LOVES, the film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller opposite Phillipa Soo and Luke Bracey. Born in Harbin, China, Liu immigrated to Canada at the age of five and is fluent in Mandarin. He is currently developing long-form projects under his 4:12 Entertainment banner, through which he has previously directed, produced, and optioned content for film and digital.

The same month, he will lead Netflix’s action-drama INTERCEPTOR a two-hander between Bracey and Elsa Pataky and produced by Chris Hemsworth. The minute I read Taylor JenkinsReidbreathtaking novel ONE TRUE LOVES, I knew I had to bring this rich story and memorable character to life on screen.Is there anything more universal in the world than dealing with love and loss?Our film explores just how wounded our hearts can be at their lowest, and how wonderfully fulfilled they can be at our highest.But what if you were dealing with it all at one time? Love, and loss. What if you were forced to face the heart-wrenching moment in which you are asked the very real question: is it possible to have more than one soulmate in your lifetime?This hit me personally and profoundly.My Mom's Dad died when she was very young.My Grandmother lived a very long life –well into her 90s –and yet, she never went on a single date. She believed her husband, my Grandfather, was her one true love.Growing up, that is what we assumed was the truth: you had one true love.No one in our immediate family had even gotten a divorce when I was a kid, so I never saw a second love for anyone.When I was 16, my life was shattered to the core –my own Father, Phil Fickman, suddenly died of a heart-attack.I was the last person to speak to him before his death.My Mom, Ruth, was devastated, and like my Grandmother, she too chosenot to date again.My Father was her One True Love.And it remained that way for the next two decades.My Mother never went on a single date.Like her mother before her, that was simply how life would be.But then when my Mom turned 70, through mutual friends, she met a man a few years older than her named Richard, who had recently lost his wife.
