OLD GUY is a classic thriller with an exciting plot full of twists and turns. However, it’s
primarily the characters and in particular the lead character Danny Dolinski that gives the
film its unique quality. The script is full of humour and wit which threads through the many
dramatic scenes and further draws the audience into this intriguing and wonderful story
Danny Dolinski is a roguish hitman, a Gen X in his later years. He still loves to party and
hang out with younger people — generally just loving a good time. He's charming, funny
and easy to get along with. That is until he is assigned a young apprentice named
Wilhborg to train up in his deadly profession.
Wilhborg is the polar opposite of Danny: antisocial, uncharismatic, gender-fluid, pure Gen
Z.
However, we soon find out he’s as equally deadly as Danny. In fact, he has skills that
impress the hell out of Danny. Danny's new target is assigned to him; and, along with
Wilhborg, Danny takes the unrequited love of his life Anata on the job. A powerful and
impressive woman who has no trouble moving in the same dangerous circles as Danny.
Anata will play a key and central role in the story.
This unlikely trio team up to fight and navigate their way through a blood-thirsty
conspiracy. Along the way, these opposite personalities grow to respect each other and
even ultimately save each other — not just physically, but emotionally.
Although the story takes place in the underworld of organised crime, the film will have a
rich and glamourous style: A world we’ll love spending time in. Although it's a dangerous
and violent journey, it’s the warmth between these unlikely friends that pulls us along.Simon West, Director
