Highland Film Group's US Distribution Arm, The Avenue to Release New Heist Thriller "The Misfits" In Alliance with Paramount Pictures

Highland Film Group announced today that the company has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to the new action heist thriller The Misfits, directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Skip Trace) from a story by Robert Henny and screenplay by Kurt Wimmer and Robert Henny, and will distribute the movie in the US through The Avenue’s banner in partnership with Paramount Pictures. The all-star cast is led by Golden Globe nominee Pierce Brosnan (007 franchise, Mamma Mia!), Emmy Award nominee Nick Cannon (Drumline, Bobby), Jamie Chung (Marvel’s “The Gifted,” The Hangover franchise), Academy Award® nominee Tim Roth (The Hateful Eight, Selma), Hermione Corfield (Star Wars Episode VIII, Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation) Rami Jaber (Tough Love) and Mike Angelo (Surprise, Mr Pride vs Miss Prejudice.) Principal photography was completed in Abu Dhabi prior to the pandemic.

JJ Caruth, President of Domestic Marketing & Distribution of The Avenue announced that the domestic theatrical release is planned for Summer this year as a joint release with Paramount Pictures, which will also handle Blu-ray™, DVD, VOD, and Digital rights.

Highland Film Group is handling international rights for the film.

Richard Pace (Pierce Brosnan) is a world-renowned thief who only steals from those who have insurance. After breaking out of a high-security prison built by a rogue businessman Schultz (Tim Roth), he’s on the radar of a band of modern-day Robin Hoods, The Misfits, led by the eccentric and charismatic Ringo (Nick Cannon), who offer him a plan to get rid of Schultz by performing an incredible heist that will not only change Pace’s destiny but also save thousands of innocent lives.
